Learn to use your smart phone like a smart cookie and post visual content to your WordPress blog at the same time. You can post from the porch, the car, the restaurant. Easily and quickly meeting your goal of creating fresh, engaging content on a regular and timely basis.
Why create visual content on the go?
Simply, because it’s what is happening now and is frequently more interesting. The web is real time. And so is your life. Sharing rich-media visual content in real-time is more dynamic.
As more people engage with social media via smartphones, theyre discovering that taking a picture “on the go” using a high-resolution phone is much less tedious than typing out a status update on a two-inch keyboard.
A 2012 study by ROI Research found that when users engage with friends on social media sites, it’s the pictures they took that are enjoyed the most. Forty-four percent of respondents are more likely to engage with brands if they post pictures than any other media. Pictures have become one of our default modes of sorting and understanding the vast amounts of information we’re exposed to every day. via The Rise Of Visual Social Media | Fast Company.
What are the tools to publish visual content on the go?
There are a two essential tools to help you accomplish this goal. But before you begin “remote publishing” to your website or blog, there are some settings to adjust. Click the image below to view the enlarged version with annotations.
- WordPress App–this essential and handy app for your smartphone whether iPhone or Andriod allows you to create a post on the go; uploading either images, videos or plain text posts, all straight from the convenience of your smart phone. You can also moderate comments and edit pages or previously published posts. Download the app and login to your WordPress dashboard using the app. To post on the go, use the app’s simple interface to select the type of post to create. View a brief video overview on the Android app and how simple it is to use. WordPress has a host of apps for many types of mobile devices.
- Press This–WordPress says, “The “Press This” function allows quick publishing with a special web browser bookmarklet. You can create a post by quoting some text, images, and videos on any web page.” This is handy when working from a laptop as well as from your desktop. Using Press This allows you to immediately create a post or reference content found on the web. Simply authorize remote publishing in your settings and drag the bookmarklet to your tool bar.
You’re now ready to publish and post on the go
A word to the wise, think carefully before you post and publish just anything. Remember the web is forever! Also, make sure you have good, solid, passwords for all settings, and logins. Some of these settings open the door to abuse without great passwords. Please, do not re-use passwords. Create unique ones for specific uses. And make sure your phone remains locked, so you can’t publish randomly. It goes without saying, don’t loose your smart phone-or someone else might be publishing their restaurant reviews or worse to your blog. And if you do loose your smartphone, immediately change your WordPress login password and un-tick remote publishing.
