Deadlines Slipping?

Working on a large project

Working on a large project can feel like the finish line is never in sight. However, if you plan ahead, you'll finish the race in fine form.

We understand managing day-to-day and deadlines

This week, we got a taste of what it’s like to be a client as we prepared for the launch of our new website.

Many of our clients come to us because we provide economical solutions for their branding, website design and development and marketing consultation. As part of that, most of our clients prefer to write their own copy.

We regularly provide our clients updates on the progress of their website and gently remind them of the deadlines for website text, graphics, and images, that is if they have chosen to do those things themselves.

It’s not uncommon for clients to miss their deadlines for submission of their website copy or images. Most of our clients are entrepreneurs, working hard at their primary business.

As we put our two former websites together, added in our hosting and billing management system and and planned and coded new functionality for our portfolio, we realized how difficult it is to manage one’s primary business and the development of a website.

Our experiences will stand us in good stead when working with clients.

5 Tips to Manage Deadlines:

  1. Use project management software to set up phases and deadlines.
  2. Share the responsibility with everyone on the team.
  3. Break large items into small, achievable steps so no one is overwhelmed.
  4. Hold regular updates with all team members, allowing them to report on their progress to goal and request assistance as needed to meet goals.
  5. Take a break every-now-and-again to lighten up the deadline pressures.
