Charleston Causes We Care About

Charleston PR & Design is actively involved with many Charleston causes and local organizations.

We care about music education & artist development

I am an Advisory Board Member for The Music Initiative and Carolina Studios (as is Bill); both amazing organizations bringing a focus to music. The Music Initiative spotlights emerging musicians and bands and Carolina Studios helps children enhance their lives and education through music. Please click the links for each to read more about them and get involved.

We care about our creative economy

Additionally, I am a a member of the strategic posse for Parliament, the group that organizes and brings Charleston Pecha Kucha nights and is working to focus attention to Charleston’s Creative economy. We’ve got another PKN coming up soon. And we’re working on a few other ideas as well.

We care about the next generation

So many people have mentored Bill and I through our careers and we feel it’s important to mentor others. Currently we’re working with Jake Tucker, who is a rising senior at Charleston’s Academic Magnet High School. Jake is the founder of One Goal, One Cause and is using his senior thesis project to shine a spotlight on how social media can help non-profit organizations. His project will help organizations gain new followers and share their mission with people in our area. We’ll share more about Jake and his project in the coming year.

We believe in leadership opportunities for women

Charleston PR & Design is also a business member of Charleston’s Center for Women where we often present programs. In fact, we have a workshop coming up on June 19th in conjunction with Ashley Caldwell of The Modern ConnectionMore information.

We care about promoting our locals

We are also business members of Lowcountry Local First. June is Membership Drive Month at LLF and we’re doing our part to encourage you to join this very active and focused organization.

We’re sharing their most recent newsletter with you so you can learn more about their membership drive and perhaps join LLF. This is a grass-roots organization. No stuffy, starched shirts are part of this group. Just awesome entrepreneurs and small businesses doing business in our area.
